Meet the Founders, Gillian and Molly, sisters and co-founders of TutorFuse. We have been teaching and tutoring in Montgomery County (Maryland) Public Schools for over a decade. Like many teachers, we were looking to make some extra income. Using our unique skill set and passion for teaching, tutoring was the best option. After learning that tutoring companies would take a significant percentage of OUR hard earned cash, we knew we had to find our own clients and do the hustle ourselves. We filled our schedules and met the demand of the grind. Many colleagues found it difficult to increase their clientele through word of mouth alone, and reached out to us for help. We wondered, isn’t there an easier way? The simple answer: no.

As parents started to recognize the advantage of hiring a tutor with classroom teaching experience, we became overwhelmed with demand. We were fully booked and had no easy way to refer these parents to other tutors.

It was clear the community needed a solution…TutorFuse was born.

Molly Woods

Molly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from College of Charleston, a Master’s degree in Education specializing in Reading from Johns Hopkins University, and a Certificate in Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University. Molly has always had a passion for learning, however, reading and writing did not come as easily to her throughout her educational career. Her passion for teaching was sparked as she was able to reach the struggling readers and writers; building confidence, sharing the love of learning, and persevering when it becomes difficult. Molly began her teaching career in 2009 and taught at the elementary classroom level until 2017. She is currently working as a reading specialist. She resides in Kensington, only blocks away from her sister.
